This Outwell Hartford XXL is a massive tent which is very well made and has stood up to really heavy rain.
The only problem i have is that even with a moderate breeze the poles break very easily during pitching. The poles do not seem to be any where near the quality of the older model

The Outwell Hartford XXL is a great big tent. Very waterproof so far (3 uses) and durable. Loads of space and 4 decent sized pods to sleep in. Bit of a pig to put up and zillions of pegs to hammer in. Bit of a chore to take down, especially if windy - the canvas area is massive - you can get blown away with it. Only paid £299 for it brand new and I think that's brilliant value.

I bought a Outwell Hartford XXL tent as i wanted fibre glass poles not the aluminum one, i am very pleased with it.
its is easy to put up for a tent of its size.
i bought it from newquay camping and leisure over the phone for a great price, after finding it on the web, the staff were great and really helpful.

I have the Outwell Hartford xxl version (2007 twined skinned), We`ve been camping a few times in both sunny weather and very bad weather heavy rain and 30 mph wind`s with gusts up to 56mph and the tent still remained up no leaks at all , we had the optional canopy fitted as well ,which we did remove after the weather warning it certainly also help`s if you have storm peg`s a must in wet ands windy weather as the standard peg`s can be ripped out of the ground
the tent is very roomy ,with plen ...

The Outwell Hartford XXL tent is brilliant. We have 2 kids and a dog, you have loads of space when needed in bad weather, its warm, and cosy.
Last year we camped with a group of friends, in total there were 10 adults, 6 kids and 2 dogs and we managed to sit round a table with a few bottles of wine whilst outside the weather was awful, wet and gale force winds, "typical camping weather!" its great,
The only thing I would say is always carry plenty of spare pole elastic as they do seem to be a bi ...

We went camping for the first time with our kids (2 and 1 year old) and it was great. Plenty of space, great in the rain. This year we'll buy the extension and the groundsheet for winter camping, but this isn't needed at all.

We brought the 2007 Hartford XXL and have tried it on a 2 week holiday with 3 young children. So we did put it to the test on its first outing! We suffered rains and strong winds but we were cosy, warm and dry throughout! The large living area is brilliant and the storage pockets are handy. We also brought the canopy extension which is fantastic. Even if it is raining you can sit in a covered area - made a great kitchen area. Would recommend this tent for quality, value for money and space!

Last year we bought 2 Outwell Hartford xxl tents for a group of kids, we found them a little hard to set up but got there in the end they performed well, in quite bad weather.
This year we decided to buy ourselves a new tent upgrading from a six man 2 bedroom tent similar to the Hartford tent.
We went for the 2008 Outwell Hartford xxl, we have just done a pre camp setup and found it surprisingly much much easier than the 2007 model, and cant wait for our camping trip to Shell Island in three wee ...

We camped with our 2008 model in strong wind and torrential rain, not one leak and very stable design, great space for the money, symmetrical floorplan makes squaring up on the pitch easy, the flysheet first pitching is great and means it can be taken down in the wet without getting the bedrooms wet, very happy but it is a big tent no doubt about that and takes about 45 mins to put up, worth it for a 2 week holiday maybe not worth it for weekend camping

What can i say about the 2008 model, well our first time using it no problems at all as the weather was fine, our 2nd time using the tent was a nightmare to say the least we had leaks in every bedroom and then to top it off the poles which seem signifinatly weaker than last years model snapped and ripped the tent to pieces. Do yourself a favour don't buy this tent as you'll see most websites can't give these hartford xxl 2008 models away and are seriously reducing the prices. You have been warne ...

If you plan on buying a Hartford XXL..be aware that the tent when packed is very heavy and so is the poles that are in a separate bag. As long as you can store it when not in used or have a decent size car for when you are going camping. Plus you need room for other camping bits
