Card declined even though account in order. Had to use another card so no cashback. They got my business under false pretences. Shell accept no responsibility even though it was the merchant terminal at fault. Never going to buy Shell fuel again so not much point having their credit cardd

Time to ditch Shell Mastercard - from October 2009, cash back at Shell stations is slashed to 1% and purchases elsewhere attract a mere 0.25%

Non UK call centre, charges to query items on statements, loyalty points cant be redeemed if you leave.
No customer service at all, issues with fraudulent transactions - my Shell Mastercard got cancelled while on holiday with no notice - because they believed my details may have been compromised (not by me).

I had problems for the first 3 months when Citi did not apply the correct 3% rebate rates to my Shellpurchases and only issued 1%. They stated that the Shell service stations I was using did not qulaify as proper Shell service stations under their Shell Mastercard scheme. I asked how could a customer could know the difference between franchised and standard Shell service stations, so they sent me a list of all qualifying service stations...and all of the places I used my card were on that list ...

Fraudulent items on my account from August 2008 have still not been sorted out. An official complaint has not been acknowledged and now the ombudsman is my only option. Needless to say, once this has been sorted out I shall be closing my Shell Mastercard account.

I used to think my Shell Mastercard card was great, extended warranty on appliances, cash back etc etc. The list of benefits was huge. Although today (having had my extended warranty application rejected) i've been told that they withdrew all those benefits last year! the non-uk telephone operator in customer services could only tell me that a leaflet was issued last year which I would have received. If I had received it then I would have known about the changes!

I normally pay off Shell Mastercard in full, but do so manually in order to keep a check on payments. I have a direct debit set up for the minimum payment to ensure I don't get charged any late fees if I forget. However, if you DON'T pay off in full, then your account changes to an "interest bearing" account and you get charged interest on EVERYTHING until you've paid off in full. In this case, the statement you receive the following month doesn't actually indicate what you owe (since it takes ...

I complained that the 60 days starts when they issue the card so by the time you get it you will only have 57 days for example - got a letter back saying they have now extended this 65 days to allow for postage etc...a result for the consumer!

Just received my citi card, for the for 60 days I am receiving 6pp litre off my statement plus double points on my loyalty card additional 2% cash back, after the 60 day expires I will save 3p per litre and 1% cash back. Unlike Tesco etc, the loyalty scheme is excellant allowing you to exchange your voucher for a variety of high street shop gift cards or money of fuel, other brands make you use your rewards in there shops.
Limits set are reasonable and do encourage you to over spend.

Card is slow to go through at Shell petrol stations
Rebate rate not applied at all initially but now applied incorrectly
Card not now accepted at local shell garage due to problems at citibank - fortunately had other card or could have been very embarrassed at garage. Citibank need to resolve problems quickly or will lose customer confidence.

In general I am very happy with Shell Mastercard. I moved back to the UK after staying in Singapore for 10 years and had no bank account, credit cards or credit history in the UK for this time. This card was one of the only ones that would accept me having been back in the country for only 2 months and working for only one month since back. They offer you to enter overseas addresses for you past addresses during the application which is very good. Others didn't have this option which makes it im ...

As with all credit cards use with caution, but if you know what you are doing it makes a lot of sense.
+ 3% rebate at Shell Petrol Stations
+ 1% cash back on all purchases
+ extra 12 months warranty on electrical items bought.
    + good online access
    + no standing charges

Fed up with the shell points system. Thinking of changing to Tesco, at least you get something back instead of all this hassle. We are sick of being fobbed off since requesting our points vouchers in September. We are seriously thinking of changing our credit cards because of this treatment. Shell do not even bother to answer our requests any more either.

I was with RBS Shell Visa credit card for years, then Citibank took over with Shell Mastercard. The short time they have been running the card they have given me the wrong expiry dates. Left me embarrassed in my petrol station because they had cancelled my Shell Visa card ( that was 73.25 in credit) before the expiry date. I am an avid point saver and I missed out that day because I had to use my NatWest Maestro card. Now I am having a battle to get a Direct Debit mandate so that when I start us ...

They have lost the good service they had under RBS to the substandard service under citibank.
I will properly switch fuel supply from shell to other supplier in the process, now other stations do higher octane fuel.
