Bad Points: Prone to rust on arches, electric mirrors stiffen up at times, cam belt must be changed at 60000.

General comments: The Vauxhall Calibra 16V is great at sticking to the road. 16v redtops have 15bhp more than the later models, leather seats tend to wear yet stay very comfortable and strong. A great car to drive and although drinks a lot of fuel is v.easy for the home mechanic to maintain.

Although the miles per gallon are equal on either fuel there is a slight loss in power using the LPG.
Overall this has been a FANTASTIC car needing very little mechanical maintenance and has served the purpose it was purchased f ...

Seeing as I have now owned the 2.0l 8v and now I am the owner of the 2.0l 16v red top which I think is a very good car, I have been told that it is better to change the cam belt every 40,000 rather than every 60,000 that most garages will tell you. It is also a very good idea to have the water pump changed at the same time as the cam belt seeing as the water pump is driven by the cam belt, and if the pump seizes up it could cost hundreds instead of just an extra £30-£40 at the same t ...

The Vauxhall Calibra 16v is a very stylish car this car dosen't look at all bad for its age. It was very well equipped and has some serious bhp from the standard block. I think this is a stunnig looking car & the car very rarely gives you problems if you look after it.
