We moved over a month ago and are still waiting for Martin and Co to release our deposit. The Gloucester office is exceptional in bad customer service. They are rarely in the office during their office hours and do not reply to voice mail.

    Avoid at all cost.

Guilty of sharp business practice. Too willing to keep £200 fee, for which they were able to do nothing.

NEVER EVER use these people to rent out your property. If we can save anyone else the headache they've caused us then at least some good will come of this. We have to chase everything and yet they are supposed to be managing it. They leave us just incredulous.

We rented one bedroom flat from Martin&Co for two and a half years. They have been picky from the very begining and charged us quite a lot extra money (administration, report fees). Despite complaining alot about the mould in the property nothing actualy has been done to resolve the problem.
At the end moving out was the most stressful we ever had. They requested that property was professionaly cleaned and charged us over £100 for cleaning. Would be fear but we spent almost a week going th ...

I have been in my property 2 years and Martin and Co still have not fixed faults that were present when we moved in, even though these have been reported on every inspection. Having called them over two hundred times now, i've decided to move on. They do lie a lot on the phone, and on several occasions have tried to make out that I never contacted them! I have never had this kind of unacceptable service from any of the other estate agents in Wolverhampton, and I would not go back to them or reco ...

My experiences of Martin and Co found them to be unorganised, lazy, unsympathetic and an absolute a rip off.
I'm not surprised to read all the bad experiences left on here and only hope that people read these sites before they decide to go with Martin & Co (I wish I had!)

We used the Dunfermline branch to find tenants and manage our property. They were very unorganised, and didn't act in our interests (despite the management fees we were paying). for example:

    - We were told the tenants would move out on July 16 and when they moved out on June 30 Martin and Co said there was nothing they could do, and that we wouldn't get paid for those 2 weeks.

    - the tenants moved the shower head to an area that's not been tiled, taken hinges off fire doors and taken the batter ...

We used the local Office to let our property on our behalf, as they initially seemed quite organised and efficient. Then things started to go wrong. They told us the tenant was moving in on a Wendnesday, then the Monday before the tenant was (as far as we were concerned) we were told it was the Tuesday. Not great as the property was not quite ready. It turns out the Tenant was told he could move in on the Monday and he was very unhappy with Martin & Co when the keys were not forthcoming.

This is a fair review of Martin and Co., I'm not interested in bashing a business because of something trivial.I cannot comment on other branches of Martin & Co, I have only rented from their branch in Horsforth, Leeds. There was a really nice member of staff, very friendly but some members of staff are not nice people, they make you feel like an idiot and are not interested in your thoughts or feelings, or finances for that matter.Extortionate fees. I have read that most letting agents will try ...

i moved into a 3 bed furnished house on the 4th march 09, on the 5th of march i had bailiffs banging my door down telling me the owners hadn't paid rent, council tax etc so now its unfurnished, although i am still paying for a furnished house. Martin & co just don't want to know, the credit check me, which i had to pay for, but the landlords? Apparently they are not 'legally obliged' to check the owners of the house. Nice. Martin & co don't seem to value my tenancy.

I found them to seem unprofessional, and disorganised. Hidden costs appeared from everywhere. They advertised a price on their website for a property and then asked me for more money.
The contract was incorrect and needed to be changed. This experience was the most stressful move I've ever had. I would never recommend this company. Plus when we asked details of a manager that we could speak to in order to voice our concerns - he was never available to talk to us.

Martin and Co - the contract we entered into stated we would move in within a week no we would be waiting at least 2 weeks after giving in ALL our documentation. There are so many hidden costs, £25 pounds extra for a guarantor, £50 pounds sign out fees and this is after we had paid £225 in letting agent ' s fees! Also we have to pay house and contents insurance even though we are not the owner! But don ' t worry if we cannot find house insurance because we are only renting t ...

Me and my boyfriend have rented our apartment through Martin and Co in we have found them to be very unprofessional. When we first went to view the flat together we straight away called them and told them we were interested in the flat. They then told us that there was a reference fee £150.00, so my boyfriend paid this over the phone. The application form was sent through which we both filled in and faxed back to them. My boyfriend then got a call asking if it was both of us that were goi ...

Martin & Co estate agents have never carried out a single repair to the flat even though I was promised that they would sort out bathroom and kitchen cooker hood which is dangerous. Never return phone calls. Have constantly dripping tap which wastes 100 liters a month and Im on a meter. Avoid these couldnt careless people at all costs.

Have gone for a new property through Martin and Co which I thought were very professional and helpful at my first visit. Martin and Co had agreed that the furnished property will have curtain and not the blinds. When I call them to check if the curtain are all fitted Martin and co told me its not going to happen and straight away the next thing they told me was would you like to cancel the contract and that would basically mean that I will lose my agencies fees £323.00. Was not happy at al ...

I would highly recommend and use Martin & Co estate agents again the future. We rented our apartment in Ealing, and we dealt directly with the owner of the business, which is part of a franchise group who advised and guided us through the new laws, and sourced a lovely professional couple within 48 hours. Fully credit checked them and kept us up to speed at all times. Excellent service.

My experience of Martin and Co. as a letting agency is very poor. They seem to work very short days and have long lunch breaks, so it is difficult to get through on the telephone. When I did get through, they always told me it was somebody else I needed to speak to who was always busy, out of the office or on the telephone, and that they would phone back (which of course they never did).

The property I rented was repossessed by the mortgage company due to a breach of mortgage conditions b ...
