Paid £499 to these to arrange my mortgage in may 09 All seemed to be going well with Abbey as the lender. Although by august 09 told me that Abbey would nt lend and that the interest rate had gone up then this excuse to that excuse. To the point where i demanded my money back. By now i felt so ashamed as they told me it was cause i had poor credit rating. then it was i didnt earn enough. all the while trying to get me to agree a different mortgage company with higher rate. After the fee was refunded i applied myself to Abbey. 2 weeks later they lent me the full amount with a lower interest rate and no arrangement fee. Do not use Alexander Hall Mortgage Brokers!!!!

Alexander Hall Mortgage Brokers got me a 15% mortgage when no one else thought it existed. Went through a broker and he was very helpful and kept me informed the whole way through.Didn't have to deal with the banks directly as would have got no way when the offer was being chased.

Quick survey, mortgage offer was quick. Good advice all the way through, they make the whole thing smooth.

In 3 months they were unable to get us a mortgage, despite promising to sort everything out in a matter of days at our first meeting.
From the moment we paid their £499 fee they lost interest, not returning calls or emails.
They kept asking for evidence which had already been sent to them, never provided receipts for payment, even after asking for it!
They said a mortgage had been agreed and then came back with an offer which was 1/4 of what initially promised!
When we complained our br ...

Alexander Hall Mortgages dealt with my mortgage in the Bank area and was seen immediatley. Transactions went through smoothly; which resulted in my happiness, which is really hard to accomplish due to such high standards I uphold.

I am a first time buyer and found Alexhander Hall to be a very smooth and very efficient service. I had my offer accepted on a flat on Tuesday, the survey the next day and the mortgage offer the following day! Wow! I certainly did not expect it to be so rapid. My broker was extremely helpful and on the ball. They secured me what I believe to be one of the best interest rates on the market and considering I had stamp duty and solicitor fees included into my loan - which to be frank I found a pain ...

My expectations were high of Alexander Hall Mortgage Brokers because of the fee charged but the service was excellent throughout. I was kept up-to-date at least twice a week and my calls were always returned promptly. Mortgage went through smoothly without any hitches.

I dealt with someone at the Park Lane branch and they were extremely helpful and ensured my mortgage went smoothly and with no hassle. Money well spent.

Although I've just had my mortgage approved in writing at least(finally) with Alexander Hall Mortgage Brokers. I've had my passport go missing twice, the offer is already 3months overdue (I paid them in January) and was guaranteed I'd have it done and dusted by end of Feb. 2 people I were dealing with left, my details went missing. I've been given a different offer each time... And for the amount you pay these people I would expect some kind of courtesy call every now and again. When in fact I h ...

    Mystery shopped them.

Spoke to a girl who told me that she didn't need to see proof of my income as they had a "special relationship" with lenders.

10 times my income? Noone has a relationship THAT special.

I haven't even signed up with them and I have been trying to get through to someone for two days they were supposed to ring me at a certain time but they rang 30mins later. If there rushed off their feet I cant justify paying £500 for their " speedy" service

Alexander Hall Mortgage Brokers was the worst service possible for a financial broker/ mortgage adviser. They gave me an initial mortgage rate. I shopped around and found a cheaper one and came back to them. They said 'Oh yes, we can give you this one too' (then why not from the start?!). Then they asked me to pay the valuation fee on behalf of the mortgage lender, but did not repay back the mortgage lender who invoiced me the fee. Ask for their service fee to be paid upfront.I feel I had zero se ...

Alexander Hall Mortgage Brokers does what it says on the tin, you get a better rate and more mortgage than you would get by phoning around the banks, they are independent and the whole thing took about a week from initial appointment to the offer reaching my solicitor. Not sure where the previous reviewers problems were coming from, I used the Lombard street branch in the city, professional, fast , no rubbish.

Amazing quick service. Got my offer in a 8 days and Alexander Hall kept me up to date every step of the way. I've never had such a stress free mortgage application in my life. The broker even helped me chase my solicitor!

There are cheaper brokers out there than Alexander Hall, and they can't be any worse.

From the start they seemed very helpful and knew how to help. Unfortunately it goes sour very quickly and they seem to keep on asking for the same thing over and over again.

For a paying service, there is no service at all. We were told that our mortgage had been accepted, after a lot of hassle, confusing communications and stress. As a result we went through with the survey and sent cheques and orders to solicitors. Then 2 weeks before our settlement date, Alexander Hall mortgage brokers called us and said our mortgage had not been confirmed because the lender required more information. This was unacceptable, and this is why I thought you paid the fee to them, s ...

I am a first time buyer, and I visited a number of banks to speak about mortgages, and everyone just said I could borrow about 4x my salary, which in today's world won't get me the property I want. So I went on the internet and found Alexander Hall Mortgage Brokers. After an initial discussion on the phone, I was booked in to see a broker. The fee did come as a shock at first, but after consideration, I thought I would give it a go. They met my requirements, and I didn't have any trouble speakin ...

I have called and called my broker, the head office, you name it - they just don't answer the phone.

On one day, a day that I required very important information, I called Alexander Hall Mortgage Brokers and left my broker 2 voicemail messages and 1 e-mail message, and not one was returned or answered. This took place on a day that he said he would call me!!

I decided to complain, but alas nobody answered the branch (City) reception phone for over an hour of trying, so I gave up.

The whole procedure of buying house is already stressful without having the added stress and worry on a broker like Alexander Hall - you are paying these guys a serious amount of money and would expect nothing but the highest of standards (even some would have been nice). We searched the internet for reviews on Alexander Hall and only managed to source the one (which was OK), so I hope this is of use and can help someone else make an informed decision. I only wish we had had the chance to do the ...
