Good Points: Reliability that exceeds just about every car in its class.
Bad Points: The weakest air conditioning of any modern car on the road.
General comments: I purchased a Honda Accord VP for my wife in 1997. We bought it new. Since then, we have put 90,000 miles on it without a mechanical problem at all. This car is very nearly rattle free after 90,000 miles and there are no plastic trim pieces dangling or broken, no electronic equipment or gauges malfunctioning, no visible leaks under the hood or around the shocks, and no belt or brake noise. This car is 95% of the car that it was when we purchased it. You cannot tell the engine apart from a new one it runs so smoothly.
This car was put together right. I just wish that Honda would get smart and make a full-sized truck like Toyota did with the Tundra. I would buy one sight-unseen.
There are a couple of issues that I would like to improve upon: (1) The air conditioning is just about useless in traffic. When your speed dips below 35 mph, you are going to get warm air. (2) Just a little more insulation please. Too much road noise creeps into the cabin. (3) More durable seats. This is the only area that you can tell that our Accord has some time in service. My wife weighs all of 130 lbs. yet the driver's seat is pretty worn out.
The Honda Accord VP is far and away the best car purchase that I have ever made. I paid just a click over 15,000 in 1997 and the VP can be had now for just a few dollars more.
You owe it to yourself to check out this car.
