I bought an mr2 mk 2 non turbo 20gti last month. I had lots of sports cars like mrs , mercedes slk , bmw z3 , alfa spider and much more but I had never have such a beautiful car like this toyota mr2 . It makes and drive me crazy all the way and makes me very happy . It is a coupe and a convertible as well when I take the T-roof off on sunny days. It is totally good value for money .

It is simply insane to drive. At the traffic lights, 4000rpm, light turns green, drop the clutch and bam!!! You're literally pinned into your seat and you're just flying. It is just awesome!

Then there's the cornering. Turning into a corner and you put your foot down and the back swings out. A little surprising at first but it sure gets addictive.
You're not going to get a car for the same price that drives and looks as good.

Heavy duty billsteins, coupled with Pirelli PZero Assimetricos allow me to eat everything in the corners, Minis, 05-06 Corvettes, 98 BMW M3, 04 Mercedes E55 AMG, and a 02 Porsche 911 Carrera. In the proper trained hands, this car can easily be one of the faster cars on any given day at the track. Toyota set out to make the MR2 handle as closely as possible to real super cars of the day, (cars above Ferrari and Lamborghini's level) and Toyota exceeded. As a matter a fact Toyota gave the car such ...

If you want a cheap, reliable, attractive, good handling, practical 2 seat sports car, then buy a SW20 MR2! Only not mine, as I still can't bring myself to sell it!

I wanted something fun and fast, eventually opting for a mark 2 rev 2 Toyota MR2 Turbo. The Fiat Dino is the 'poor man's Ferrari' apparently, I actually think the MR2 has a better claim to the title. The sound of the turbo spooling up as it pushes you back into your seat is an experience well worth the money. A tank of fuel costs approx. £40 (@85p a litre) and will do only about 180-200 miles, tops 230 if driven sensibly (as if!). Electric adjustable folding mirrors, air con + climate cont ...

On a dry country road, I've yet to find a more fun car to drive. The 0 - 60 time is decent, but it's the handling that makes it worthwhile. It's almost a challenge to get it to slide on a dry surface. However, beware on a wet road...It's fine coming off a corner in 4th or 5th, but try accelerating hard out of a curve on 2nd or 3rd, and you might have some problems.

Overall, if you drive the Toyota MR2 Mk2 sensibly you'll have no problems, and many fun summer days of open top motoring! G ...

The Toyota MR2 2.2's are great as commuter cars, and for a night on the town, especially if you want the night off from taxiing because these are 2 seaters. The non-turbo engine is larger 2.2 L vs. The 2.0 L on the turbo, and you have to spend way more money on insurance if the vins read turbo. My suggestion - convert! These cars are rear wheel drive with a mid engine design, making drifting and such a breeze.

I have owned two Toyota MR2's, one in 1990 from new, one in 1998 used, in between cars I bought a house. The first car was reliable and totally dependable, after this I vowed to buy another as soon as possible. My second car had 4 previous onwers! I've had a couple of maintenance bills with it, but I think this was more to do with the standard of the Franchise garage servicing.
Second hand ones are more risky to buy than new.
For a 2 seater sports they are however cheap to run. Insurance for ...

When I first got my 1992 gts Toyota MR2, I was so paranoid due to all the stories of spontaneous swapping of nose for tail that it took months for me to approach a corner faster than 30kph! Ive now owned it for 2 years and after some (sometimes enthusiastic) experimentation, I am confident that this reputation is mostly urban legend. Although they will get loose in the wet, (or dry for that matter) when fangs out, if you are looking in the rear vision mirror to see what you are about to hit the ...

I have a red 1992 toyota mr2 turbo. I've never been in a faster car (acceleration) than my mr2 with boost levels of 21 psi, but i set it at 15 psi which is still nothing to frown about. Put down the pedal and get mashed to the seat and it doesn't let go. I bought my car with only 64,000 miles with a HKS vein pressure converter, HKS electronic valve controller, HKS turbo timer, air/fuel mixture gauge and turbo boost gauge, custom exhaust and powerflow intake. If you can find a good deal, i sugges ...

I bought my Toyota MR2 GT-S in June 2000. It is a late 1992 model in silvery/blue. When i bought the car it already had a cat 1 alarm system hks mushroom filter and full blitz exhaust system. Since then i have added a blitz dsbc (dual solenoid boost controller) running a pressure of 1 bar (14.5 psi). This has radically transformed the car into a completely differnt animal. Acceleration is awesome with hardly any lag as the wastegate is now either permanently shut or open, as opposed to various s ...

The Toyota MR2 is a complete monster. I got my '94 turbo in standard 240bhp form and it hit 60 in 5secs, and I had 163mph out of it. I've since added a HKS induction kit, better exhaust, dump valve and a superchip which has upped the bhp to 270. Completely mental acceleration and terrific handling in the dry. Fuel consumption isn't bad for a car with this power, although it does drink oil. Just watch it in the wet and be wary of Toyota dealerships because they're useless when it comes to the MR2 ...

I've owned a 1985 Toyota MR2 & now currently own an 1992 MR2 GTS and never have had any trouble controlling them in the wet and no, i dont drive it like an old man. I've found the MR2 engine to be underrated but once ppl have been for a ride in one their opinions have changed. The design of the MR2 factory exhausts is very restrictive, with the catalytic converter mounted very close to the turbo outlet and a number of tight bends dramatically restricting gas flow. So an aftermarket system would ...

I own a standard 91 turbo and recommend it to everyone. Beware these cars bite back in the wet, as I've found out
