Good Points: Installed as a straight swap for the original Blaupunkt supplied with the car. Sound quality much improved over Blaupunkt. Internal DAB aerial supplied. Connections for electric aerials, external amplifiers, one auxiliary input and steering column controls. Easy to use once basic controls mastered. Remote control supplied.

Bad Points: No facility for remote CD Changers. Needs additional DAB aerial to installed for DAB reception, which will require potentially difficult under dash work.

General comments: The RRP for the Sony CDX DAB6650 is £249 but it won't take much searching with Google to get this down to £149 or even less. I was some what cautious about moving to in-car DAB, but the installation was very straightforward being a direct swap with the existing radio casette. Only the installation of the additional internal aerial caused concern. It is now mounted vertically on the inside of the windsreen, but because it was impossible to thread the cable under the dashboard without some serious dismantling, it emerges from a gap in the fascia and lies across the top of the dash. Untidy, but effective.

The DAB radio is fine, recieveing all the channels listed when I enter my postcode in the sites about DAB coverage. It gives a "No Coverage" error message when entering the Mersey Tunnel but if tuned to a BBC station, it will find the corresponding FM channel.

There are scrolling displays for all the metadata for both DAB Radio and CDs. I've not yet played any MP3, but I expect the same for them.

The time in the clock can be set automatically from the RDS.

The removable security panel is very large, and as there is no secuity code, it means carrying the panel around when the car is parked.

After a couple of weeks usage, I am very pleased with the Sony.
