I HATE NATWEST!! I signed up for a Natwest Student Account as I wanted a free railcard. DON'T BOTHER!! Firstly, it took about 3 weeks to get all the information sent through the post as they send your pin, account details etc ALL separately. When I signed up, I asked for all my standing orders to be transfered from my other account (don't do this). It took ages for my online activation code to arrive so I couldn't check my account for a while, but when I did the standing orders had not been tran ...

I am now in 2nd year and decided to apply for a Natwest student account. Its the 4th time i've applied online and it finally workd. my friend recommended it to me because of the interest free overdraft and freebies. as soon as i got the application through mail, i went tstaright to my branch to open my account, everything went well. they said that i will recieve my debit card, cheque book etc in about a week time and WTF! its been over 3 weeks now and I still haven't recieved any letter or whats ...

Student Masters and Natwest overdraft facility. Despite taking a letter from my uni into a local branch to confirm I was still a student and that the account was a student account ( on Natwest system) I received a general letter from Birm'ham customer services asking me to ring them to discuss my account. On contact I was advised that the account wasn't a student, interest was added and they demanded full payement. Explained I couldn't pay in full, they asked if my parents could pay. They demand ...

Natwest, specifically student accounts, will give you the full overdraft amount and not explain or even briefly go over the terms and conditions. Whatever you do read the small print! Despite paying back 1/3 of the overdraft in the last three weeks I have had several letters over the summer demanding the full payment back and they wanted more over the phone or they will pass the matter on to debt collectors and give you a black mark - guess they'll have to do that as I can not pay it back just w ...

Appalling customer service! So relieved that it is not just me to recieve this from NatWest. Charged £38 TWICE for going over overdraft facility. Not told of these charges when opening account-have just been advised on phone that they are in welcome pack and that NatWest "Do not discuss these when opening account as too many different charges to go through"!! Also while in the branch today paying money in om 2 occasions to rectify situation was TWICE offered NatWest credit card for "when i ...

Natwest Student accounts are a pickle. I have found that the online banking is a dream to use, and they have all kinds of nifty features like texting you your balance once a week and letting you know when your funds are up or down to your specified amount. It also has the option of paperless statements, which is nice when you are back and forth between home and uni, and moving between halls and student housing.

    HOWEVER!!!

Their main draw for natwest is their railcard, and they make that the m ...

on paper Natwest offered exactly what i wanted for a student account.an easy overdraft and no constant stream of letter to remind me of how poor i am. However i found their customer service [what customer service?!] truly innadequate. i used their drop-in money facility and they lose the money, then find it again but not until theyve accused me of lying about it, and pretty much made me feel like a criminal...as if worrying about rent money wasn't enough!when i did run over the amount they didnt ...

Absolutely terrible!I opened my student account with Natwest as I was already a customer, and wanted the rail card!BIG MISTAKE!!

Trying to get the rail card is like getting blood out of a stone! They told me that I would recieve all the forms in my welcome pack, yet I received a welcome pack for a completely different account, and nobody had a clue how to order the right one!

everybody in branch and in the call centres are completely useless, they haven't got a clue whats going on and basically ...

Customer Service is absolutely awful at Natwest.

I opened an Account online in order to qualify for the free USB pen that you would receive for opening online. I got the documents fairly quickly and went to the branch to confirm my identity.

My passport was fine, then she wanted proof of address, in which I produced my UCAS conditional offers letter. She said this was unacceptable even though the letter was dated two weeks ago! I then went home to retrieve a utility bill instead - only to go b ...

On opening my account with natwest student, it was not made clear to me that of the many benefits offered, there is an extremely short time in which you must "apply" for said benefits, rather than them coming automatically with the account. As a result, as i didn't apply for my free student railcard within the first month (seeming as i already had one), the NatWest now refuse to issue me one for the whole 7 years they initially promised. After a lengthy battle with an extremely dismissive custom ...

I felt when you go into Natwest they looked down at students not really caring as much, or being really condescending. They charged me for my overdraft and when asked why it was becuase I was not a British citizen eventhough I have permanent residency and am a home/eu student! And I was not asked for any ID when i went into the branch to re-activate my card as I put in the wrong pin more than 3 times which was a bit worrying. On a good note however they did send me the student railcard in time a ...

WORST BANK EVER! They give you the full overdraft amount and then demand the money back from you! Are they forgetting that this account is offered to students.

With no money what so ever and being the worst time with the credit crunch, after discussing the situation with them they still demanded the full amount of £1000 or the removal of my overdraft!

    APPLY ANYWHERE BUT NATWEST!

I had my student account with them for four years which is now a graduate account. I opened it in the branch with ease, they gave me the maximum overdraft automatically and interest free. They also opened me a savings account and encouraged me to put some of my interest free overdraft into the savings account and earn some interest on them!!
They also give you a mastercard credit card with a small limit of about £500. It is great for emergencies and also you get cover when purchasing with ...

I have a railcard, which has already saved me £50. Good overdraft, although I hope not to have to use that.
The staff were friendly and helpful and explained everything. Obviously some salesmanship was involved, but you are going to get that at most of the banks.

I applied in the beginning of August for a natwest student account, heard nothing so decided to reapply and then contact if nothing heard. This time paperwork was sent with a letter saying I could take the completed paperwork and proof to natwest branch. Upon arrival at branch I was told this was not true and had to produce the letter stating this fact before I was believed. The information was faxed and I was told customer service would ring in the next 48 hours, they didnt. I rang customer ser ...

I opened a Natwest Student Account when I started at university in 2004. I had generally been pleased with them until part way through this academic year (2008). I started to get some very aggressively worded letters from their collections department despite still being within the overdraft they had given me, granted I was only £20 short of the total. When I phoned Natwest about this, it was requested that I had to pay the full overdraft in full over the phone or they would pass the matte ...
