    Sorry to disagree with many on here, but I got a Cambridge Audio CD5 to replace an ageing Technics CD Player - PG-SL580 (or something like that!)- about 3 years ago because I wanted it to play MP3 compilation discs and the Technics doesn't have the technology. I was a bit disappointed initially with ...

    An excellent entry level CD Player for the starter in audio hi-fi. Simple setup and controls, smooth, warm and clear sound. Remote has great range and nice feel to it. Very few bad points, the screen could be a bit brighter and the unit a tad prettier!

    Cambridge Audio CD5: I bought my CD5 for my birthday (15th) from Richer Sounds for £50. Best 50 pounds i've ever spent. Along with it I bought the Cambridge Audio A5 amplifier, they sound brilliant together and are of the same design so look very smart. Richer Sounds service was brilliant, I h ...

    Had my Cambridge Audio CD5 for a good 5 years now. Been absolutely superb. The sound is excellent and it looks very smart - no fussy buttons. Mine is now coupled with an S700 Isomagic DAC. Also Cambridge Audio. Together they sound amazing. More like £500 - £600 than the £180 total! ...

    Player has provided great service for some 18 months, and then decided it wouldn't read the TOC (Table of Contents) when loading a disc. The was traced to the spindle motor, the CD5 uses a SONY KSS-213C Mechanism. I traced a replacement mechanism without Laser for £20. But then found CPC elect ...

    Bought from Richie Sounds and the first two had problems within a week. I got fed up and changed it for a similar priced Philips but that sounded lousy. I went back and got a third CD5 and this has worked great without problems. Huge thumbs up for Richie Sounds - very helpful and no questions asked ...

    This CD5 CD player from Cambridge Audio blows away the 8 year old £500 mini system it replaced. Good clarity.
    Great Value for money at £69 from Richer Sounds.
    VERY temperamental when it comes to playing CDRs or very slightly damaged discs, both of which play easily on a cheap player.

    Bought my Cambridge Audio CD5 DVD player from Richer Sounds (terrible service) and used with NAD 302 amp and Tannoy Mercury speakers. Sound is incredible: revealing dynamic and realistic. Classical music is reproduced with excellent fidelity. I'm fond of the Penguin Cafe Orchestra, and the CD5 repro ...

    I bought the Cambridge Audio CD5 cd player from richer sounds on special, £69 bucks...

    The CD player has a basic design with no fancy lights or buttons/switches.

    The sound from this little gem is beautiful, could not fault it, for an entry level machine.

    using it with a marantz pm66 s ...
