Greetings people i have had exactly the same problem with my Audi A3 1.6 Sport. I cant understand how a company like VW can get something so simple so wrong. We were recently left with virtually no brakes on our 2003 1.9 TDGTi Mk 4 Golf, that luckily did not cause a serious accident. The Volkswagen Golf 1.6 SE is a nice second car fun to drive not had any problems .. touch wood only had 2 replace a fuse that cost 2 pounds and this car has 140000 on the clock!

5 months ago I upgtaded my 1.1 fiat punto (extremley reliable even if a terrible looking car) to a Volkswagen Golf 1.6 SE. It had 58k on the clock and so I immediantly changed the cam belt.

We got a T-reg model of the Volkswagon Golf 1.6 SE recently and it had clocked 80k on the meter.
