good points: metallica brings yet another great album that sounds great and has depth. also, this may be their most important album. fighting among the band and rehabilitation for james were inspiration for most of the songs and really allowed them to release their feelings. From fast, thrash songs ...

Metallica made this album out of desperation. They were in a vulnerable state after losing Jason Newsted, James's rehabilitation and the legal battle with Napster. People were beginning to question them, and confused, they attempted to release an album to convince themselves as much as the fans. The ...

Metallica, St. Anger - "Could I have my wasted days back?" Hetfield growls on the opening `Frantic`... "Could we all have our wasted money back...?" We all scream in responsive unison. I squirmed in shock after hearing this album but understood, in fact; this has some diverse artistic integrity beh ...

Oy. I expect more from pioneers. To make a long review short, the Metallica crew decided to "write for themselves." James Hetfield stated that there are "no songs for chicks." Sorry dude, there aren't any songs for guys, either. Plain and simple, this album doesn't deliver. At all. Rob Trujillo's a ...

On first listen i hated it. plain and simple. But it has grown on me. It's still not on a par with any of the late 80's era material (or maybe it's my rose tinted glasses). But it makes 'Load' and 'Re-load' look like the 90% rubbish they were. ('Hero of the day' and 'Mama said' excepted). One area t ...

Metallica bring us yet another stunning album, with more shocks than expected. At first play you will notice that there are no solos or melody what so ever. Those looking forward to another black album will be knocked back in dispare. However its an album of many hidden dethps. Complex sound layerin ...
