Jaguar XJ8 3.2 Before puchasing listen/check carefully for a very slightly lumpy idle. This may well be worn timing chains/tensioners which cost over £450 plus time to fit, I believe early tensioners were made of nylon? which have a tendency to wear/split. The car is otherwise very reliable an ...

There are two cars in the world that I would buy just for their engines. One is a BMW M3, the other a Jaguar XJ8.
Introduced in September 1997 the Jag is fitted with an aluminium V8. Even the smallest 3.2 litre version produces 240bhp, and the standard 4 litre has 290bhp boosted to a whopping 390bhp ...

I had an 1990 Jaguar XJ6 4.0 manual for 10 years from 1992 to 2002 and my present XJ8 3.2 since early 2002. The present one is more reliable and slightly better styled but otherwise very similar to the previous one and with the same fuel consumption.

If asked to drive to Southern Spain in the car tomorrow I would. It is supremely comfortable, and more importantly, I have 100% faith in its reliability.

A great way to spend £7k.

I can probably sell my Jaguar XJ8 in a year for £5,500.

I call that good value motoring. ...

The Jaguar XJ8 3.2 is much better quality than my previous 1990 XJ6 4.0 manual - no trace of any leakages on the garage floor after 4 years and no consumption of any oils, fluids or coolant. Completely reliable apart from the front suspension wear which was barely detectable when driving but showed ...
