I have been using Actinic for quite a long time, while its a little quirky in terms of being desktop software its great.

The most important thing I use it for is its secure card payments. I looked at a lot of options, including EKM Powershop but nothing works as well as Actinic out of the box.

If you don't need to use SSL, i.e. the https, for payment process, Actinic is very good.If you need to use SSL, please, please check with your web host to see if it can support it. Actinic is easy to use for basic site creation but can allow you to get under the hood and do almost anything you want to do. It can be hosted on many different servers so you are not locked into a hosted system which its very hard to move away from.

The Actinic Catalog software maybe good for someone who is not upgrading, I don't know. But from an upgrade point of view it's a BIG disappointment and a waste of money.
