Overall its not a bad car but i would rather have golf gti mk2 or mk1 over the corolla gti as they are much more solid and engines are bullet proof unlike the corolla gti. Were the best back in the days but not now - too many rust boxes around.

The Toyota Corolla GTi-16 is my fav car out of 4 different Gti's i have had like the 306 gti-6 the 106 gti the mk1 golf and m2 golf both being gti's my corolla just beats them in every way.

Excellent car to drive, if you can get a tidy one. Very under estimated. will always love the Toyota Corolla.
Engine is indestructable! Excellent road holding, long gear ratio's, all the gadgets considering the year!
