    We bought a SMEG STX dishwasher thinking that it would be a good quality and reliable machine. How wrong could we be!     My Smeg STX 2 has never worked properly from day one. It's just broken down yet again, so it's going in the bin. Given similar problems with every SMEG appliance we own, they are very much form over function.

    Brand new STA 8745 and it doesn't work. I sold my beautiful, perfect Miele freestanding one so I could have this integrated Smeg. What a difference in quality !!! don't let price indicate quality, it is cheap rubbish with an expensive price tag. Even the cutlery basket falls over.

    I was impressed with it for all of about 6 months and then things started going wrong. I would strongly advise anyone to avoid this dishwasher.

    I bought a top of the range SMEG Dishwasher 3'A's. After a few weeks the motor started sounding noisey. I called Smeg out. 2 weeks later they arrived and told me this was how it should sound. 3 months later they now tell me I need a new motor and a new programmer as does not always heat up the water ...

    Year four and second break down I am having with my SMEG STX2 dishwasher and I have to get a new machine. I bought a stainless steel model at £500 odd I'd recommend anyone not to buy this make as parts are expensive.

    Our new £600 smeg STX 2 dishwasher broke down after 3 months of use. Smeg took over 3 months to locate a part to fix it. Only buy a Smeg if you enjoy washing by hand - it's an expensive shiny box in your kitchen better suited to storage than dish cleaning.
