The Nikkai A52HF is a cheap recorder if you have a spare hard drive kicking around. Does not support MHEG5 which means that the interactive services don't work (red button services on the remote) Very annoying. Overall, I don't recommend buying this as it is now out dated.

One good point: you can use a PC Hard Disk. That's the only point about the Nikkai A52HF. Tuners on these devices are faulty and bad quality. I live 1 mile away from a Crystal Palace Digital Transmitter, but the signal strength on Nikkai A52HF never reached above 40%. Got a roof top aerial, which wo ...

I bought this as a cheap replacement for my now very old Pace Twin, unfortunately the feature set of the Pace far out strips this unit.Only recommended if you have a spare drive kicking around, as a considerably better unit can be available with a drive for not a lot more.

For the money the Nikkai A52HF is excellent, but I wouldn't have paid the original price.

I bought a Nikkai A52HF from an eBay vendor and put a donated 40GB hard disk in it. Including postage, it cost me just under £30. It replaces a five-year-old Panasonic TUCT20 Freeview box .I have experienced none of the problems of poor reception and freeezes that other reviewers have report ...

Not nearly as bad as other reviews have suggested. Worth a look if sourced cheaply (less than the RRP of £59 at Maplin) and if you have a spare hard drive from an old computer. And also if your waiting to upgrade your kit in the not too distant future.
