Let me first state that the current interest rate really isn ' t good, its a variable rate account that follows the Bank of England ' s base rate and at the present that means the rate is low (and may go lower soon) but it is backed by the Irish government, which means if you have a lot of money and ...

Was expecting delays due to the massive amount of accounts being opened on daily b ...

They have managed to sap any remaining confidence I had left in the banking system. Closed the account 8 weeks after opening it and switched to Icesave. I least they have the courtesy to answer the phone.

I found it difficult to access your account once you give them your money. So far this week I have spent over an hour on hold to them just trying to activate my account. The customer service levels are awful!

Think carefully before depositing, if you want to have immediate access to your money. No good points so far, apart from the potential interest of 5.75% should you ever be able to access it.

After 6 months of struggling with my Post Office savings account, I've closed the account. I didn't know if there were currently huge difficulties in granting on-line access, so the only way you can transact is by phone (difficult to get through) or by card (impossible if you live in a rural area). ...
