The Anchor Inn restaurant is divided into a number of rooms with a few tables in each. We were seated about six feet from the bar and overlooked by those drinking there and every time a group of people came in they stood right over our table. In the end we had to change tables!

We eat at the Anchor Inn on a regular basis - with family, friends or just as a couple. It is one of the nicest eateries in the area offering a great location, a lively but relaxed atmosphere and surprisingly competitive menu prices that compete with good quality pubs!

I must say that I was surpri ...

After a superb meal last week with my family, I had to pass this on. Some of my family are very fussy and the Anchor accommodated for them all. I had the River Fish Platter, my wife the Stuffed Vegetables, my parents fish and chips and my kids burgers, they catered for the whole family. I discuss ...

The Anchor Inn's setting is worth a trip alone - right next to the river and a pretty kitchen garden, and I soon discovered that the pub lived up to its reputation also. I had fish and chips whilst my friend had lamb, both meals were delicious - great to see the hearty portions too, very reasonably ...

What a find for anybody who likes good food will love this place. The platters were exceptional, even the vegetarian platter was enjoyed by confirmed carnivores. I had the river fish platter, (the last one I might add as they had sold out) and was really impressed by the way the chef had created 8 ...

I was very disappointed with the food at Anchor Inn, and the strange way it was displayed on the plate. I ordered rib eye steak, and chunky chips with local veg. Was presented with what looked like a fatty steak (am aware of what rib eye is so not surprised), surrounded by giant carrots, potatoes ...

If you're going for lunch get there early as they get busy quickly -and don't expect a meal in 5 minutes as everything is made fresh but definitely worth waiting for!

We went for Sunday lunch and were really disappointed, booked to eat in restaurant but given a table in bar, we asked to be moved and after being made to feel very awkward given table in not very crowded restaurant. Service slow, had to ask on several occasions for wine list eventually served wine w ...

Nayland is a wonderful country pub/restaurant with excellent food and service. I have eaten there on many occasions and have always been very impressed with both the food and service. Give it a try and make your own judgement.
