    What you see through viewfinder is what you see on screen, so can use like conventional camera. Comfortable to hold. Quality of photos excellent, digital zoom photos quite good too.

    Canon PowerShot S5 IS is an excellent all round bridge camera with good quality output.

    the Canon PowerShot S5 IS as an entry level digital slr you will not beat it.
    It has great manual modes for you to practice on.
    Great lens & great image stablization built in

    Not going to use Canon again after this experience. Optical Viewfinder is all but useless and cannot be used in sunlight. For many serious photographers, an optical viewfinder is a must.
    Difficult to get clear shots on zoom without a tripod.
