Deep, deep, deep - if you look far enough. So philosophical it hurts. If you like your books to make you really think but still fancy a bit of adventure, this is the one. The story of Dune and it's subsequent sequels and prequels were far advanced of their time when written and still are in many respects.
Set very far into the future it details the struggles and wars between noble houses for control of one planet. A planet important to the entire universe.
