The Hitachi HDR160 is a very good box, it is used extensively and has never let us down (touching wood!). On two occasions it has restarted itself without any operator input but has never lost any of the information stored.

After much research and downloading of manuals for other machines, I found that the Hitachi HDR160 appeared to be equiped with all the required features and ease of use to make viewing a pleasure.

We got a 162 (not a 160). Recorder is attractive and easy to use - great menus, good 8-day guide that you can search through, good series recording - generally fully-featured. The Hitachi HDR160 looks good, and does what it says on the box! It's easy to set up and understand although potential dust problems in open vents?

Generally a very good product spoiled by Hitachi not fully implementing the features that are actually detailed in the manual.

After going through several digi-boxes I wasn't expecting anything different from this one, but there is less interference than any I have had before, really easy to use for viewing, recording and playing. I love this Hitachi HDR and would recommend it to anyone.
