Great Picture quality!
Good (CD) audio quality compared to other DVD players.
Bad Points
Too noisy CD Transport!
General Comments
I bought the marantz DV 7010 DVD player two months ago (may 2002) and used it quite a lot. I was planning on buying a cheaper DVD player (Onkyo 535) but when I saw the difference in picture quality I knew I would regret buying the onkyo - the picture quality of the Marantz DV 7010 was supperb!
The thing I didn't noticed when I bought the player was the noisy CD transport mechanism. As mentioned in other reviews, it really quietens down when the movie starts playing, but in very quiet movie scenes I still hear the transport. Fortunately during CD playback the transport quietens down some more.

Q I was thinking that either the Sony S7700 or Marantz DV7010 (or DV7000) DVD players would be a good choice for me and was looking for reviews about these players.

I have to agree with the noisy transport system as detailed in this review but would like to add that, for me, this hasn't presented itself as much of a nuisance. The transport seems to be noisy when it doesn't matter too much i.e. not when you're actually watching or listening to the important stuff. This is the finest player I’ve had the privilege of using.
