Good Points

Print quality is very good. I like having a separate cartridge for the black ink and do most of my prints in grey scale. Color prints are high quality. The black and white print speed is pretty high.

Bad Points

The paper roller does not reliably feed paper into the printer. HP recommends cleaning the rubber rollers with distilled water, but it may help for only a couple of weeks. Different brands of paper and weights of paper feed better or worse. HP brand paper does not feed well. I requested parts from HP, but was told that the paper feed roller is not an accessory that you can replace yourself.

General Comments

I bought this HP Deskjet 890C printer because of the HP reputation for quality and because they partnered with Kodak on image enhancement. The sample prints looked very good, also.

I would not buy this model again because of the paper feed problem. It is very annoying. I think there is a design problem with the paper feed roller. I would be more satisfied if the rubber rollers could be replaced by the user.

I have noticed that some of the HP ink cartridges work better than others with respect to the clarity or definition of the edges of the characters. Some cartridges make characters that are a bit fuzzy at the edges.
