RUFFIAN.'s Review of HP Deskjet 1220C Inkjet Printer

Good Points

The deskjet 1220 prints 11x17 (tabloid) which is very important in drafting/engineering related fields. It is amazingly quiet. The quality is good for inkjet although I keep playing with line weights to make it look even better.

Bad Points

The manual hints at all these wonderful things it should do but nowhere does it tell you how. The manual is weak in all regards even the most basic like manual feed and finding help on the internet is next to impossible.

General Comments

After searching for quite a while I tracked down a no longer manufactured Canon BJ5100. I wanted a machine that was affordable and that printed 11x17. The Canon was so slow that I could leave for 15 minutes and come back as the plot was finishing (Autocad files can be large). An architect friend told me about the HP DeskJet 1220c inkjet printer and raved about it so I went out and found one. It was costlier than the Canon (which still worked so to speak) but I was just starting my own business and needed something I could depend on. I've been totally pleased. The plots are fast and quiet and good quality. I did take an extended warranty so the machine should probably work well for the 3 years and 1 day.
