Good Points

Good pictures, easy to use.

Bad Points

After 6 months I have the infamous 'system error.' If they won't fix it then I should flush the $300 in the toilet.

General Comments

After 6 months my Nikon Coolpix 775 digital camera has the infamous 'system error.' It won't work and the lens is stuck in the out position. If they won't fix it then I should flush the $300 in the toilet.

I had the same 'system error' on my Coolpix 775, but mine happened after 13 months so its not under warranty. What's the quick fix suggested? Nikon want $180 to fix it which is not going to happen, I'll buy a new one (and a different brand). Misery loves company, at least now I know that this is happening to other people!!!

There are a couple of reasons for a non-moving lens with a "system error" message. Most likely the lens assembly is being prevented from moving by a small piece of debris, sand, etc.
The brave of heart can take this apart, especially if you have nothing to do. I fixed mine but it took a lot of concentration and time. Hey! I might buy your non-working 775 if you don't feel up to it. Call me on my toll free number at 877-266-7909.
