2.4 Litre motor?? What type of car did you say?
A Genuine Cosworth Sierra RS500 has a 2.0 litre DOHC turbo engine with red rocker covers bearing the cosworth brand. With a bit more boost and fuel this motor is capable of producing 400+BHP EASILY. Will b interested to hear what u say.

You can bore and stroke the Cosworth engine to achieve 2.4 litres....

in regards to "SUNILO"'s replie about the 2.4 engine ona genuine RS500 cossie , he could have had the engine bored out , plus he didnt mention anyting about it being a RS500 , it could be a saph .etc.

Why the 18in alloys and huge exhausts have you taken it on the track and found it needs the huge wheels?

Its funny really everytime i go up on a track day everyone spends more time looking at my dads entirely standard looking 2wd sapphire cosworth its got 300bhp and 300lbs/ft torque.

the engine bay doesn't even have any chrome or plastic covers of any kind and because of this looks a lot meaner it looks like it wants to be used!!

as for big exhausts it has a pretty ordinary looking 3inch full stainless system.

My dad runs it with lower boost as its quite capable of more than 300bhp but whats the point you just end up spending more money as the engine runs out quicker!

I've driven it round castle combe and it goes lovely, the engine has been modded to be almost bullet proof and the handling sorted to the point that most people ask if its 4x4.

when i was a kid i would have rather had a cosworth than any porsche or ferrari and i still would now! the sierra cosworth is a working mans toy not a car for ken to pick barbie up in!!!

I drive a 215bhp (~230lb/ft torque) 1100kg hatchback, which is pretty sharp in the acceleration stakes although I wouldn't call it 'fast'. I'll happily outrun a Boxster (not S), Impreza WRX (not STi) and other quick cars so imagine my surprise when I saw the front end of a Sierra coming towards my rear end at a very rapid speed... !!
I dropped a gear (at 65mph down into 3rd) and gunned it, which in most cases would have pulled away from many cars or at least held the gap. This 'Sierra' pulled up to my bumper and then dropped a gear and disappeared as if I was stationary.
I then noticed it wasn't a "chav'd-up" basic Sierra but a modified RS500 Cossie... !! Having then looked at the figures, this thing (with the mods) will be running around 400bhp.

It did make me feel somewhat better as I was a little concerned to start with that I had a fault on my car.
I was VERY impressed with the performance of a 'Classic' vehicle, the good old 'Cossie' remains an awesome beast out on the roads.. !!

The 2.0 L Cosworth engine is not generally bored but stroked to 2.4L to maintain the integrity of the block (F1 pistons and rods are added with a new solid billet crank running a T4 Garret Turbo). I owned both a 2.4L Sierra and Escort in the UK before I came to Australia. Expensive engine job - ground up 'blueprint' rebuild. Amazing cars - 0-60mph under 4sec and the increments 50 to 70mph and 70 to 90mph dispatched under 2 sec. If you had no problems with the Ford badge you had super car performance to toy with.
