After the Nissan Maximas were revamped with more horsepower in 2000, they really re-established themselves as luxury except they were two years too late.
The 2002 Maxima was supposed to be replaced by the 2002 Altima and therefore lacks anything special. Matter of fact, the 3.5L Altima is faster than the Maxima.
I've only ever owned Nissans, but lets face it, the Maxima was supposed to be removed from production. Because of demand, it will come back with a new face lift the way the Altima did. The 2002 SE is a ton of fun and with the bose sound system it's amazing, but for 5 grand less you can get a v6 Accord, Camary, or Grand Prix GTP. Also, for the writer who said the Maxima SE will beat any Grand Prix: check out M&T and C&D, the Grand Prix is faster off then line and a tenth of a second faster in the 1/4 mi.
