Jing Cha.'s Review of Crosman Auto Air 2

Overall Rating

Good Points

+Inexpensive ($40 estimated)

+ High powered (velocity is over 430 FPS which is required to shatter glass and break bones in small animals)

+ Large Capacity magazine (Holds 18 rounds of BB's)

+Light to hold and very thin (concealable)

Bad Points

-Inexpensive (feels cheap and the inner parts are mostly plastic and ABS materials)

-Doesn't resemble a real gun

-the breech is elevator type like a shotgun and can't fire as fast as the trigger is pulled

General Comments

This Crosman Auto Air 2 CO2 pistol is pretty cool. It was my first BB Gun. I bought it when I was in Catholic HS off of a Chinese guy who wanted to trade it for porno. I only payed $15 but that was a real deal because this gun, besides the springs inside, is made relatively well.
My first act of indecency was to run outside and bust a hole in a squirrel. This gun had the power to punture squirrels easy. Squirrels are a test of a BB GUN's power in that their tough hides are difficult to penetrate.

I checked to see what accesories daisy hass for this baby. They have a rifle stock that can be added to this gun to make it more stable in the hand. In addition the AUTO AIR 2 has 3/8 dovetail rails which can be used to add either a RED DOT sight ($40) or a Tasco scope for a mere $8-20.
One version of the AUTO AIR 2 in retail includes the Red Dot Hologram sight but it is not very helpful. There are two types of Red dot sites. One from the movies that shines a laser beam ONTO the target which is pretty cool ($50) and then the one that comes with the AutoAir 2 which is a HOLOgram sight. All it is is a small sight that has a dot cast onto a screen in the sight. You have to match the sight to the target. It is difficult and the whole thing feels cheap.

I would have to say that the Auto Air 2 is a fair pistol for the CO2 beginner. For its price, it is excellent. My only complaint is that it looks like a simple water gun. I like the looks of DAISY's Model 400GX. Looks like a Desert Eagle.

Slightly disturbed by the tone of the review - the owner appears to hunt with the Autoair 2. Very silly (and cruel). This pistol is not at all suitable for hunting, get a spring rifle instead - a low power CO2 gun is far more likely to maim than kill ('one shot, one kill' is the hunters creed).
The Autoair 2 is great for plinking, but I would not get it for any other reason.

I agree with the other commenter - this review is a bit frightening. The whole purpose in buying such a gun is to have fun hitting targets, cans, bottles, and occasionally food items (bad apples, rotten tomatoes, etc) To "bust holes in squirrels" is not only illegal, but a bit unsettling. BTW: Remember the old AutoMag pistol Clint Eastwood used in Sudden Impact? Well, through a long series of events, the AutoMag was eventually replaced by something called the AutoMag II. It looked like a big version of this air pistol - hence the knockoff name: AutoAir II...

This review highlights the problems that normal airgunners face. The public perceive all airgunners as wanting to inflict pain with no danger to themselves. Perhaps your reviewer is very young to judge by his vocabulary.

The AutoAir 2 can indeed kill squirrel at short ranges, and it's not illegal to kill squirrels by any means, infact the UK proposed a 1 Euro bounty on Grey squirrel tails, but it never got passed.
