Good Points

Vehicle is good in, ride, comfort, quite for a diesel.

Bad Points

Steering lock very limited, no alarm sensors, only alarmed on door and immobiliser. only 4 speed auto box.

General Comments

Hyundai Trajet gsi Auto TD diesel MPV. The mpg shown in manufacturers leaflets and on the windscreen in show rooms does not match the figures when in road use ie (26-30-40 mpg showrooms). In my figures averaged (over 2500 miles) 25 mpg, mostly driven with mpg in mind mostly on longer journeys. Drastically disappointing MPG.

I've got the manual Diesel (which I'm well happy with!)I'm getting 32mpg with mainly town driving. I'll get 40mpg on a long run.

I have now sold on my Trajet and replaced it with a VW Sharan diesel.

which is doing 43 mpg in normal driving and 50+ on a run, which means the money I lost selling on my Trajet I will save in 12 months, with the extra miles per gallon

I was going to buy a Kia Sedona but due to supply problems ended up with the Trajet TDi

Which, having now looked more closely at the Kia's, is good news!

The Hyundai has vastly superior build quality - and returns nearly 40 mpg.

Downside - could do with larger engine. Acceptable (just) for travelling with six passengers, but I was hoping to tow a caravan with it.

Anyone got any experience of caravan towing with the Trajet diesel?

Under powered I dont understand. The Trajet 2.0 TDi pulls 1.5 metric tons according to the book. It does a nice job with my boat at 1.3 metric tons. And I get very nearly 40 mpg on my daily to work run.

I have the 2.0 litre petrol engined Trajet which I used last year to tow my 1.4 tonne caravan and 6 passengers to France. The car managed a poor 18-20 mpg but with much gear changing kept to 60-70mph on the motorways. Anyone towed with the 2.7 litre?

I have been driving a 2.0l since January 2001 and am very disappointed with the fuel consumption (20-25mpg). The noise on starting up as the fanbelt tightens is a constant irritation. Poor quality sound system. Lovely car to drive though and loads of space for 4 big kids in the back. Would expect to hear that peole with Diesel version get better fuel consumption. Considering changing to Diesel either another Trajet, VW Sharan, Ford Galaxy or Toyota Avensis Verso any comments.

I bought a new Trajet Manual diesel in September this year, and i have been absolutely delighted with it ! Especially when after a little haggling i managed to get the windscreen price down from £16750 to only £14000 !(and a set of mats to boot!).It could dare i say do with the Kia 2.9 CRTDi engine to make it a great all rounder, but the 2 ltr lump is just adequate.I smile every time i see a second hand Sharan or Galaxy for silly money, and would recommend a Trajet to anyone wanting a good honest (new) MPV for the price of a pre used "Quality ???" Make.

I have just got a manual GSi TD and I only get 400 miles out of a full tank driving with economy in mind has anyone got any ideas on how to improve this. Hyundai have come up with a load of rubbish like "the litrature quotes US gallons so your MPG will not make sense"

I had a 15 foot caravan which I towed extensivly with My Trajet diesel, it towed it like there was nothing there. I also have a 12 x 6 flatbed trailer based on an old caravan chassis which I managed to tow wirh a couple of ton onboard, the trailer was braked but the Trajet towed it beutifully.
