Excellent phone/PDA, software stable.
Bad Points
Battery will only last 24hrs if you are a heavy user. Could not compose SMS from keypad. Ringing could be louder especially out doors and speaker phone too. Paint comes off easily from the aluminum casing/cable sockets at the bottom. A shortcut key/button to keep the backlight ON will help at night especially during WAP/SMS.
General Comments
Can't wait for the next model/upgrade that hopefully can have the features above.

I totally agree it is a very helpfull feature, but I could not find the setup for the backlight to turn on whenever the flip is opened, could some one guide me how to do that............. Thanks

If your PDA needs are simple and you're into the Wap scene, the Ericsson R380s is a neat, if expensive, way of getting two devices in one. A separate phone and PDA, however, are more functional.

In my view, the R380 is a mobilephone with PDA functionability, not the other way around. Okay I will agree, there are some short commings, but it's a damn good phone. As far as the function for the backlight - if you go into the settings, you can set it so that when ever you open the flip, the backlight will stay on, till you close it again.
