British Airways are now selling tickets for other airlines via their website. I took an American Airlines flight and it was probably the most tortuous 8.5 hours of my life. Unbelievably rude and patronsiing crew, uncomfortable seats, inedible food. Sold as a 'comparable airline to BA. I have just received the following reply which is utterly inadequate. Last time I choose to fly BA.
Having booked direct with BA I would not expect them to assume no responsibility:
"I understand you are very angry about the service provided to you by American Airlines but I'm afraid this does have to be taken up with them directly. British Airways are not in a position to comment on the service of another airline and any complaint will have to be directed to them.
In answer to your statement about your flight being mis-sold to you, I'm afraid this is incorrect. When you make a booking online at ba.com and one of the sectors is operated by another airline, this is clearly stated before you complete your booking. We do not advertise that their service exactly matches our own but they are a comparable airline."
