I have owned my quattro since 2008, bought for just £300 used only 10 times. I used it with the standard dd slimline coil once and have never used it since. It was very unstable the earlier dd coils seem more favourable (slightly different design). I bought a 12x10 sef and have never looked back, i also have an 8x6 sef and love that too. It eats cut quarters, the 8x6 gives a crisper signal on them though.I use ferrous tones and cancel out -10 to -8. I have found that with a sensitivity of 13 in a mid trash environment gets best results, start crancking the sens and you miss some of those smaller bits. Only minus is weight. Oh and never noise cancel if you're not getting any interference, you knock out frequencies.
