Firstly, I have always bought new cars from dealers [Audi Coupe, BMW M3 Convertible, and at the moment my BMW X5]. I was looking for a new car having more space and definitely lower running costs and the above fitted the bill well, and a lot less expensive. Continuing my 'value for money' quest I went through ALL my car magazines and decided to look at all the Internet Car Supplier adverts. I logged on to NINE in total, typing in the exact car, colour, etc, and the 8 extra options on top of the Elegance Spec. Two were closely matched as lowest but the lower was 'Pre-Registered', and I wanted to be the first owner. I pondered for a week checking the Car Magazines again and saw the 'Auto-E-Bid' advert which I had missed. I repeated the same logging in of the car details and they matched the price I had found. This was the MAX price I would pay including their Fee but could get lower at end of bidding. After understanding I pay nothing if no one matches this price I 'went for it'. I went from slight anxiety to excitement as bidding started with all my work mates sceptical. One bid came in early, exactly matching my 'MAX' price with me first owner. Next day a second came in £369 lower but it was Pre-Registered. Near the end of bidding the first bidder dropped their price by £214. The bidding stopped and I chose the slightly higher priced [£155] supplier as I was the first owner and would be UK Skoda Dealer supplied.

The strange 'twist' of this method of buying was that one of the previous 9 Internet Suppliers from above, actually bid over £1.5k lower than their own Web Site price. I have saved £3761 which included the fee I paid. The winning bid Supplier contacted me next day, was extremely helpful, and with a £500 deposit my car is now ordered.
