ESHK Hair clerkenwell.
This place markets itself as a resonably high brow hair salon, but it is not. At least not the Clerkenwell branch. Haven't tried Hoxton.
As stated on their website the staff are friendly. They certainly don't use top range products -not a keratase product in sight!
The guy cutting my hair rolled his eyes, threw his hands in the air and laughed incredulously when I asked him for his opinion on how the back should be cut. I then said what I wanted. He went on to cut the back. He then cut the fringe. I then pointed out that I did not like the 2 gaping holes each side between the fringe and the rest of my hair and said I'd like it all to appear like it belonged together. He obliged. Most hairdressers see the hair in its entirity. This guy saw it as 3 disconnected parts: front, back, sides.
Interestingly most of the customers in there were men. I'm sure they'd be good for a bloke wanting a short, back and sides. But for women wanting anything other than that I wouldn't bother with this place. It really is more of a barbers than a decent hair salon.
