Having had a Barclaycard for over 40 years and having paid my bills in full every month I have never been charged any interest. I assumed that Barclays would consider my account as a good one. It came as a shock therefore when last week my card (which I use regularly) was declined in two separate restaurants and I had to pay cash.
I e-mailed Barclaycard for an explanation and received an acknowledgement but nothing else. My latest bill then arrived and I sent a cheque for the full amount, together with a covering letter asking why my card has been blocked. I have not received a reply.
It is pointless trying to ring their customer services about this matter as, on the odd occasion that I have found it necessary to contact them, I have had extreme trouble in understanding them, and they appear to have even more trouble understanding me! (I speak English.)
In the past I have always recommended Barclaycard to friends and colleagues but I will not be doing so again.
