NO CLAIMS BONUS NIGHTMARE.
Just been with Aviva for a year, having given me a good price and previously having given excellent customer service despite no claims as Norwich Union.
My renewal quote was reasonably priced, but ever since the start i have been plagued with No Claims Bonus problems, firstly two months after taking out the policy i was asked for proof of no claims bonus, so duly sent off my esure renewal policy with proof of 7 years, to meet the 5 years no claim bonus criteria, this was rejected, despite them stating this was reasonable proof, When this letter came through i was away, and my parents opened it and they were left struggling to sort it, with me stressing on the phone, eventually it was sorted.
Then when looking to change to another provider for this years insurance, my renewal with aviva only stated 5 years NCB, as this is the maximum they do, they said they would send me proof of my NCB when i started, thereby showing i had 7 years, plus the last year, but this never came through, so when purchasing my new insurance i could only provide proof of 5 years, Speaking to them after i had taken out my new policy, the day before it was due due to waiting to see if the letter came, i was told i could get proof for 5 years plus the last years. If i had know that before taken out my new policy, i could have 6 years NCB, but everytime i tried phoning before taking out the new policy, after going through ages of voice activated questions and answers, i was told the phone service was unavailable due to technical issues.
So to sum it up, Aviva cocking up have meant 8 years of claim free motoring are now registered as 5, so a year with them claim free has lost me 3 years NCB. This combined with stupidly long waits on the phone and any letter sent taking, by there estimates taking 10 working days, but usually more.
I usually believe reviews are generally only written when bad things happen, and any insurance company will do their best to screw you when you claim, but to spend a year driving carefully, keeping my car safe and secure and to come away with 3 years less protected NCB just is rubbish.
If you have less than 5 years NCB and can stand awful customer service, then try aviva, if not, go elsewhere.
