Endsleigh are better than most of the others.
At 23 my daughter purchased the student bonus accelerator car insurance policy in October 2009 for her first car, a 2006 Clio. After 6 months she renewed with 12 months no-claims discount, for £550. In January 2011 she skidded an black ice and wrote off her car and an oncoming van, injuring herself and the other driver. We found the Endsleigh claim team to be both sympathetic and efficient, issuing a cheque for an initial low valauation within 2 weeks. After submitting evidence that they had under-valued, a further cheque was issued, in total we got the full insured value back as the £400 excess was also covered on the Policy Extension we had taken out for £37 extra with Inter Partner Assist. It was a bit of a hassle making the excess protection claim, as this had to be done separately, but the whole claim was settled within 4 weeks. The process for submitting documents and claiming was all done on line and by email, and when we did need to speak to them we were able to phone direct into the claim team to a named UK adviser.
We bought a 2007 Clio to replace the write off, and the cost to change the cover over was £57 including the £25 admin fee. (bear in mind that these admin fees will add up if you make frequent changes)
Now that no claims bonus has been lost, the renewal has just come in at £1400 with £450 excess, or they have offered to start a brand new policy on the same terms at £1078. Shopping around, the best quotes are with Admiral group (Diamond/Elephant/Bell) for around the £600 mark. Adding an older named driver reduces the premium with these back to what we paid last year. Although the others are cheaper, we're loathe to change from Endsleigh because they have given us very good service overall especially with the claim.
