I had taken out a policy on my old car at the end of December 2010 and bought a newer car at the end of January, when I phoned to change the car details the cost was astronomical, anyway I did a search for insurance on the internet and for the same policy and a lesser voluntary excess it cost me £79 per month compared to Budgets £220 per month, so phoned to cancel the policy for the new car on 3rd Feb and was told I would owe them £900 for cancelling, by the way I phoned my bank to say I had lost my card and got a new one which has a differnet sucrity number, therefore they can't take the money from your account. Just had the letter in asking for this, however intend to seek legal advice about this as I don't think this is legal.

<br/>I had the same problem with budget, just tried to cancel my policy and they have tried to charge me &pound;380 and make me pay for the rest of the contract! I have just been able to cancel it and they have said the financial services will be in touch to arrange a payment method.
