I've had my female Patterdale for 8 months now, she is my first dog and I bought her from a breeder at 18 months. She's a broken coated red girl with a white chest and a few White toes. Bought as a companion and to conquer my fear of dogs she has excelled in both. Ruby is very willing to learn and picks up new commands quickly- though persistence is needed in training her as she is excitable and can be easily distracted.
My only problem with Ruby is her hesitance with othe dogs- she can lack in confidence when faced with 2 or more dogs, especially larger breeds. It is something I am trying to work on and I hope to make her bolder in time, it may come as she gets older. She's good with new people and just rolls over to have her belly tickled. She is also great with cats. I hope to breed from her in the future and lots of my friends have expressed interests in prospective puppies.
Ruby is a fab little dog, who is both a proper little dog and loves digging and chasing her tennis ball, but will also just sit on your lap and cuddle up. I'm lucky enough to live in the lake district and take Ruby fell walking regulary where she in her element.
Basically I love my Patterdale and can't praise them enough. Fabulous working dogs, family dogs and companions.
