Good Points

Strong Build, Easy to use, Fluorite Lense, 3 CCD,


Bad Points

Apart from other critics saying about tape loading problems I have not found this to be a problem. YET!. View finder
lacks res. Strap gets in way of loading bay. Zoom motor too slow.


General Comments

Canon XM1. Excellent little digital camcorder. Picture quality is brilliant and the PCM digital sound mic on the camera itself is quite good. Sockets available for ext mic. DV in/out. I film weddings using the xm1 and I think it gives as good a picture as any other 3 chip camera such as Sonys DSR 250 or VX2000 which are price marked more expensive.
If you're serious about videography then this camera is a must. Even if its sole purpose is for a back up.
