Post Office Online Saver Account
The reviewcentre system requires that I award stars, but I would prefer to award none at all, as I cannot even open an account with the PO. This is because the PO does not accept a NatWest Account Transaction List as proof of address (for ID checking) in lieu of an actual bank statement. They do not seem to accept that banks are increasingly not providing printed statements as routine, and are issuing transaction lists if you need proof of address.
When I phoned them, their staff could not explain why my application had been returned.
The PO has a very restricted list of acceptable documents for their ID checks, compared to other banks, and apply their rules strictly, without using any thought or discretion.
They seem to have very inexperienced staff, who are not properly supervised, and who cannot deal with your problems either verbally (some are clearly not native English speakers) or in writing (badly composed standard letters).
After two failed attempts at opening an account, I am writing the PO off as a bad job.
I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy.
