been with churchill car and home insurance for many years with 3 cars in the family all insured through churchill and home insurance as well, Always paid d/d through bank and never had a missed or late payment ever.
Recently had to cancel a policy for one of the cars because car was sold, on cancelling i was told that if there was anything to pay back or a refund to be given it would be sorted out within a short period of time by accounts and i would be informed.
Heard nothing from 21/12/2010 cancellation date untill 26/1/2011 when a letter appeared stating last chance to pay £35.00 in quite an abnoxious tone of letter threatening court action!! i tried to get through but they were very busy so thought ill try later in the day when its quieter, the same day my husband was taken into hospital with severe leg problems, this insurance letter got put on the back burner and accidently forgotten as my husband was more important at this time.
I was visiting daily and my head was all over the place and he is only just back out of hospital and maybe awaiting an amputation of his foot as things are still very bad, so as you can imagine i have a lot to worry about.
12/2/2012 I HAD A LETTER THROUGH FROM A DEBT RECOVERY AGENCY! so just over 3 weeks since my first and only letter from churchill, i immediatly rang churchill to complain and explain my situation as to why this hadnt been paid, got no where with the customer services and there attitude prompted me to request a ring back by a manager.
The manager rang 8 hours later, i explained my situation all over again and how annoyed i was to receive a debt recovery agency letter, his attitude was disgusting especially for a manager and no better than the line staff i had spoken to earlier. I told him i was now cancelling all my insurances with them, i told him for every customer he lost he would need to find 2 to make the situation right again,to that i was quoted "insurance companies dont work that way and we dont need customers" I was totally shocked and extreamly annoyed at this comment and i felt i had to put the phone down, i had my card in my hand to pay the arrears and really just wanted to let churchill know how annoyed i was at everything and explain why this had happened, but after this comment i changed my mind completely!
This is now ongoing as we havent got enough to deal with!! so please think twice and dont use churchill insurance, they are inhuman, cold and non caring for their customers
