The Kymera magic wand is a universal remote control that they have designed to be used like a magic wand. You swish the wand in certain directions and, once you've programmed (taught) it, the wand will turn the TV on/off, change channel, turn up the volume etc.
It's basically a toy because you couldn't replace your normal remote/universal remote with it as it only has 16 programmable buttons and some of these are quite hard to use - so realistically there are about 6-8 usable functions which clearly isn't going to be enough to fully replace your remote control.
However, as a fun toy it's pretty good. You can programme it reasonably easily - although it does take a bit of getting used to and the instructions aren't the best. And you can also use it reasonably easily - although some of the motions you're supposed to be able to do are quite hard to replicate.
I received it as a gift which I would image 75%+ of the purchases are for, as its a great fun thing to play with. Will I be using it instead of my normal remote? No. Will I realistically be using it at all in a month or so? Unlikely.
But it was a great gift and I've enjoyed playing with it (although the £45 price tag makes it an expensive toy for only a few weeks of use)
