“I lived in an area (Murrieta) that had city "well"...”

I lived in an area (Murrieta) that had city "well" supplied water system. The water was literally Pee-Yellow and what it lacked in filtration they made up for with Chlorine. Enter Life-Source. After catching the sales rep in three direct lies to jack the price up, and demanding they stop install immediately, they agreed to lower the price from $6000.00 to $4500.00. Still way too much money. The Beotron is nothing but a copper wire inside a PVC pipe with sand; does nothing to change the water at all. In short it is a VERY BIG carbon filter with a snake-water kludge inside. The water was clearer, (but then so was my urine before we switched), and it did remove the chlorine; however the promise of improved water taste failed and the ice in the refrigerator was cloudy and still tastes terrible!

The service rep blamed everything from climate change to my interior pipes (3 year old house?) being bad.

Save yourselves the money. Purchase 2 5 micron pre-filters and stack 4 carbon elements and a post filter. It will cost thousands less and just replace the filters every 6 months and you will have a LifeSource style filter for $700.00.

Can you explain more about how to make your own filter? I am not mechanically inclined.
