I have been in the market for some low end studio monitors for a while. I record guitar, make music in Ableton and edit videos with audio in Premiere, so I decided I wanted some speakers to give a true representation of the audio I was playing with.
After researching various models, getting opinions from various audio sources, I decided these were a financially suitable option.
I Google searched for the best price and they turned up on apple store and Amazon for £110. I was going to get them the following day, but as luck would have it, Apples price went up to £145 (inline with other prices) and Amazons stock was a three week lead time. So, after a failed call to Apple (the question didn't have an answer in the manual they have to read I guess) I decided I could wait the three weeks and ordered from Amazon.
I patiently waited, and when they arrived it was clear it was worth the wait. The sound quality is just great. A flat response (which is perfect, as you want to hear what the non adjusted audio sounds like) gave a strong and sure presence. The bass was powerful and crisp, no distortion even when driven high, the mid and treble were also extremely capable. I had several attempts at reaching the limit, and that was far louder than I needed to go. When listening to a newly produced piece in the optimal audio point is awesome.
The price of £150 is quite high as you are nearing the next level of speakers for that price, but I got them at £109, which makes them an exceptional contender.
I am very happy with these and would recommend them to the amateur producer/editor
