Good Points

12 gram cylinder normaly used in paint ball guns but also can be used in co2 pistols as well. These little owunders are far cheaper then any other co2 I have used, there well rated at least for my ppk/s I got 45 shots from them decent power but crosman powerlets smoke this ones easy. in my wifes 357 they worked very well she got just under 90 shots and good ones at that my air auto II they did not preform well in. Also keep in mind that we went out in -35 weather shooting. so for the cold weather stuff not bad at all.

Bad Points

I dont see many bad points other then not performing well in cold weather in my 2 guns my wifes gun did very well.

General Comments

crosman perfoms well in cold weather brass eagle pretty good in the 357 but not so good in the air auto II and PPK/S. You cant beat the price for amount of co2 you get in the box, I got a box of 15 for under 10 dollars canadian, now if these brass eagles do well in the summer time they will be my number one choice for summer and crosman will be my winter co2 as a note my wife gets almost 200 shots in her 357 from the crosman co2 for winter use, she also rapid fires a lot too and she does well with the 357 for powerlet usage, I will have a summer review as well on the brass eagle powerlets.

So, Brass Eagle CO2 don't work well in the PPK/S?

  2. kmillard Rank: Major on 20th Feb 2004

not at all in the winter time. they appear to have a thinner metal as well then the crossman to therefore making the cold get to them much faster

At first I been using Crosman powerless, but after I tried Brass Eagle I don’t think I’m going back. They are a lot cheaper and are as good, if not better (I was never that impressed with Crosman anyways). Now, I been shooting only indoors, so I can’t comment on its performance in cold weather. With my Beretta I get about 5 magazines before power drops off.

Your breatta must use a lot of gas, I was out yesterday it was 7 degrees and very nice out the ppk with the brass eagle performed very well, I went through 10 clips and let it sit for about 10 min and went and shot off another 10 and the fist 2 clips of the second set of 10 I was at pretty well full power then it droped off alot after that rest perioeds are well sudgested for the co2 to re warm up.. I maxed at 220 shot on one brass eagle and about 150 so shot on the crosman...

I have come across what may be the same powerlets, they looked well worn and scruffy like military surplus, and the word "eagle" was just visible. In England they are about 10% cheaper than Webley, Walther or Crosman.

I find that in my Smith and Wesson because the top of the powerlet is slightly concave, that they do not seal too well around the piercer and have a slow leak. The seals were replaced twice just to check. There was the same result in a CP 99.

Do they have any oil in them ?

  6. kmillard Rank: Major on 4th Jun 2004

As far as I know they have oil but you have to use pellgun oil on the tip of the co2 every second or 3rd, or the seals will dry out where the pericing pin is. Also always leave a good to decent co2 in the gun at all times so the inner seals can stay lubed and so that the seals keep proper pressure on them. Otherwise problems occure. Any how if I can be of any other help to any one contact me.

kmillard, I'm not sure that I got what you meant, but It's BAD to leave CO2 in guns. It will wear it out the seals. Crosman sells lubricated CO2's, they used to sell them in Wal Mart, but I don't think they still carry them.

Anyways I been using Brass Eagle for quite some time now. Yesterday I bought a pack and when I picked one out of the box I saw that it says UMAREX on the powerlet (instead of Brass eagle)! I thought one somehow got mixed there, but when I checked all, they all were UMAREX powerlets.

Does Brass Eagle now sell Umarex CO2's or was it just a mix up? I wonder how’s my next box will turn out, maybe it’s going to be full of Daisy CO2’s!?
