I've had a 97 Almera GTi for 3 years. Great car, never had a reliability problem with it. In fact the only things I've had go wrong are the Alarm (needed a new Alarm Control Unit) and at the moment I've got probs with the central locking. It keeps locking and unlocking, even when you're driving. Nissan reckon it needs new actuators but a mechanic mate of mine doesn't reckon they're causing the problem. Anyone know if it could be the Alarm Control unit again? Does this also control the central locking?

I've owned my Almera GTI for just over a week now!
Its FANTASTIC!! Best 3k Ive ever spent!!
I have the same problem with the doors locking themselves automatically! The solution! Just unlock em again! Only does it when the doors are open though!
Any one recommend some new brake pads/disc for it!

I think the locking thing is a moisture build up due to rain etc. Unsure exactly what the problem is but my car has the same fault and i think other gti owners do as well because I've read it on the net several times.
