Good Points

100% compatible with recent Nikon lenses, accessories etc.
Great overall results, very good colour saturation, great exposure system, complete range of uses from manual to program

Bad Points

Battery charge lasts less than expected, suggest spare battery
Needs to enhance contrast in photoshop, to my taste

General Comments

Before trying, and consequently buying, the Nikon D100 I was a bit sceptical about digital cameras. I tried a lot of D.cameras before and was still convinced on film cameras. D100 lets me appreciate digital a lot, although for certain shots I absolutely still prefere my Nikon F4S or my very old Hasselblad 500C. D100 is versatile, great when you need something to get quickly images of good quality. I think in the panorama of similar price D.cameras it is absolutely at the top. The only regret is that it's not compatible with my Nikon 28mm Decentrable for architectural usage. Given that big part of the result of the pictures comes from the lens, D100 allows you to chose the best lens to exploit the sensor.
I noticed some excessive rumor when using it with low light, even using long exposure and selecting manually the ASA level.
Also great is the level of personalization achievable via the menues.
In conclusion I absolutely suggest to buy the D100, if you look for a high quality, semi-professional, interchangeable lens digital camera.
