Good Points

Good throttle response and torque at around 4500rpm.

Bad Points

Petrol comsumption is not the best, but with Ecotek filter fitted great economy on motorway travelling, no problems, had car over a year, all electrics (Immobiliser, central locking, keypad immobiliser etc)are 100% no leaks or rust but may need to replace Cibie driving lights at some point due to rusting mountings.

General Comments

I have a Peugeot 106 xsi 1.4 N-reg diablo red at 105 Bhp standard, extras include full magnex exhaust, K&N filter, Ecotek filter, momo steering wheel and gearknock, strut brace, vented front brake discs, etc, good throttle response, good cornering, great torque at around 4500rpm, excellant car, cheaper insurance than a GTI! With only around 25bhp standard less, for todays price for an XSI less than £2600, it's a bargin with comparsion to a 'typical' boy racer Citreon VTR which has 95bhp standard.

Hi all, Im just about to hopefully purchase a 1994 106 1.4 xsi, black, 3 door, has 31,000miles on the clock and is selling for £2000, will be test driving this afternoon.
Any real bad reasons not to go for this type of car? what group insurance is it?

Yes Peugeot 106's are great, initially I had a 1.5 diesel ok not the greatest of engines but then it was economical. I recently changed that for a 1.4i Roland Garros and the difference is massive. The engine is responsive quick and handles a dream, I changed the standard wheels for a set of 15" alloys and the grip is even better. I have made a few other minor mods to it to such as CD player all new speakers, bullet aerial, meshed front bumber opening, centralised lettering at the back too. I also have a centralised letterbox exhaust on order from powerflow. All in all I love this car and am a big fan of this shape phase 1 as I think the phase 2 is too rounded.
